Trailing 4-2 early in the third period, the Marshall boys' hockey team scored three unanswered goals to defeat Morris/Benson Area 5-4 in Southwest Conference hockey on Tuesday night in Benson.
The Tigers (11-7-1 overall, 8-2 SWC) took advantage of a hat trick and an assist from Quinn Horvath to extend their win streak to five games. The Storm's Tanner Picht also recorded a hat trick and an assist in the loss.
In all three periods it was Morris/Benson Area that struck first. In the first period Picht found the net at one minute, 47 second mark. With less than a minute in the period Marshall's Beau Mikel scored to tie the game 1-1.
Picht scored again in the second period before Horvath scored his first goal of the night, with assists from Tyler Untiedt and Corey Clark, but the Storm struck again to make it a 3-2 game.
Picht scored his third goal of the night just 12 seconds into the final period, giving Morris/Benson Area a 4-2 lead before the Tigers heated up.
In less than three minutes Marshall scored their final three goals. Derek Rasmussen found the net at 1:18, followed by a pair from Horvath at 2:33 and 3:58.
Mason Campion recorded 41 saves in the win for the Tigers, who were outshot 45-32.
Marshall is in action again on Thursday when the Tigers travel to New Ulm to face the Eagles.
