MARCELL - Services for Paula M. Alden, 68, of Marcell are at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church Deer River. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Arrangements are by Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River.
She died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in Cohasset.
She was born Jan. 4, 1944, to William and Alice Haas in Sleepy Eye. She was raised in Marshall and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1962. She attended cosmetology school in Ames, Iowa. She and Jim Alden were married April 1, 1967. Jim and Paula moved to Marcell in 1968 where she owned and operated Paula's Pretty Place. Jim and Paula worked in the trucking business for 31/2 years. In 1982 they retired from trucking and moved back to Marcell where they built their lake home. In 1982 Paula and Jim owned and operated a caf and laundromat in Marcell with partners Denny and Bonnie Korte for 19 years.
Paula was an active member of AA; she was also a member of Our Lady of the Snows in Big Fork, and a volunteer for First Call For Help.
Survivors include her brothers Bill (and Julie) Haas of Ames Iowa, Bob (and Denise) Haas of Linden, Texas, Jerry (and Cheryl) Haas of Marshall and John (and Kathy) of Marshall; sisters Kathleen (and Don) Stalpes of Fargo, N.D., and Nanci (and Joe) Guerreo of Granite Falls. 19 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; lifelong friends Marci Lindgren, and Denny and Bonnie Korte, along with many other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Alden, and parents William and Alice Haas.
Paula will be lovingly missed by family and friends.
