The Adult Community Center has had a "facelift." We are now the "Colonial Red" building sitting on the backside of the Whitney Parking lot. Some have commented, "You've added brick?" No, just changed the color of the siding. Come inside and check us out.
This month we're going to take a look at Informational Programming. We hold Travel Logs sometimes part of Tea, Toast & Chat and at other times as a separate program.
Some travel logs we've held are: Lion's Clubs Exchange Students from Brazil and Czech Republic; a trip to Cambodia, Vietnam & Thailand; Scuba Diving in Mexico (including seeing the gear); Uganda and a bicycle trip around the world.
Tea, Toast & Chat is a newer program with a topic that varies each month. We have had travel lectures, display of antique farm toys, old clocks, old music box and who knows what will pop up next. We also host speakers from the medical area from time to time. A Chiropractor discussing the "Aging Women" was very interesting.
In November we host Senior Fest. This is a half-day filled with speakers on a topic of interest. Past speakers have covered the topics of Alzheimer's, dementia, fraud, identity theft, safety in your home, laughter, Medicare and the list goes on.
Then there's technology. We have four computers available for use and for teaching classes. We offer Beginning Computer; all who take the class do the work on the computer and receive the information in a packet. They are encouraged to use what they've learned and come back with questions.
So take a break! Come check out "What's Happening at Your Center" today.
