Avera Marshall announces Spirit of Excellence Award winner

Matt Pederson, respiratory therapist, has been chosen to receive the "Spirit of Excellence" Award for July 2012 from Avera Marshall. Each month the award is given to an employee who demonstrates the medical center's values of compassion, hospitality and stewardship. Pederson has worked at Avera Marshall since October 2005.

Markell sales representative of the month for Catholic United Financial

Dan Markell, FIC and sales representative for Catholic United Financial, has been designated as Sales Rep of the Month. He is the company leader in total sales and also new member recruiting. Recently he earned the designation of PPGA and has earned the President's Club award the past two years. Markell serves parishes in the Marshall, Pipestone, Ivanhoe, Wilno, Minneota, Lucan and Milroy areas and has been a sales representative since 2009.

AmericInn Marshall announces participation In 'Hotels For Heroes'

The AmericInn Marshall has announced it is participating with other AmericInn hotels nationwide to support a new military support program called "Hotels For Heroes" which provides free hotel stays for wounded U.S. troops and their families while they are receiving treatment.

The "Hotels For Heroes" program is being administered by the Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting America's wounded warriors, veterans and their families. The Fisher House will pool donations of AmericInn Easy Rewards points, along with donated points from other participating hotel companies, to provide free accommodations to wounded, injured or ill service members and their families while undergoing treatment at medical centers.

AmericInn customers can donate their Easy Rewards points to the "Hotels for Heroes" program by logging into their account and accessing the "redeem" and "donation" tabs.

AmericInn has been honored twice by the Department of Defense for its extensive programs of support for members of the military, receiving the "Seven Seals Award" and the "Above and Beyond Award."

AmericInn also offers a national discount on room rates to active duty and retired members of the military and their dependents. They can receive this discount by requesting the AmericInn Military Rate (rate code: MIL) when they make their reservation at a hotel.

Hellie earns CPCU designation

Peter Hellie, CPCU, AINS, has been awarded the professional insurance designation Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) by The Institutes. This announcement was made by Peter L. Miller, CPCU, president and chief executive officer. The Institutes is an educational organization that confers the CPCU designation on persons who complete eight rigorous courses and examinations and meet its ethics and experience requirements. All CPCUs are required to maintain and to improve their professional knowledge, skills and competence through their commitment to The Institute's CPCU Code of Professional Conduct. Hellie began working for North Star Mutual Insurance in December of 2008 and has the position of senior vice president.
