Senate to take turn on same-sex marriage

MARSHALL — Same-sex marriage in Minnesota got one step closer to becoming a reality Thursday when the Minnesota House, after more than three hours of debate, voted 75-59 to let same-sex couples marry....

For once I agree with Al; but only because legislative action alone will be dogged by lawsuits from the traditional marriage crowd. Which is fair, since anti-gay marriage legislation has been seen plenty of legal challenges. Of course, if those cases are any indication, a lawsuit to overturn gay marriage will most likely fail.

If it is such a great idea, then why not do it right - full vote by the public in the November election?

That would be the fair way to do, and would reflect all of MN thinking, not just a select few.
