Annual celebration and progress report

United Way of Southwest Minnesota held its annual celebration and progress report to the community on March 26 at the Marshall Golf Club. The event recognized southwest Minnesota volunteers, investors and community partners and highlighted United Way’s 2018 accomplishments and awards of distinction were presented. Great things happen when we LIVE UNITED.

Awards of Distinction were presented to:

• Rising Star Award: Minnwest Bank, Marshall

• Spirit of Caring Award: Bremer Bank, Marshall

• Campaign Ambassador of the Year: Al Castor, Lockwood Motors/ABRA/Shine Center

• Community Spirit Award: Dustin & Mary Brau, Brau Brothers Brewing Company

• Volunteer of the Year Award: Amy Herrick, North Star Mutual Insurance Company

Workplace Campaign Awards of Excellence were presented to:

• Inaugural Award: AURI, Daktronics, Inc. and Lakeview Public Schools.

• Outstanding Citizenship Award: Advanced Opportunities, Avera Marshall, Dawson-Boyd Public Schools, GreatAmerica Financial Services, Lockwood Motors/ABRA/Shine Center, Lyon County Government Center, Marshall Area YMCA, Minnwest Bank, New Horizons Crisis Center, Royal Tire and United Way of Southwest Minnesota.

• Bronze Award: D & G Excavating, Hoffman & Brobst, Marco and North Star Mutual Insurance Company.

• Silver Award: Bank of the West.

• Gold Award: Bremer Bank, Great Western Bank, Minnwest Bank, Royal Tire, Service Enterprises, Inc. and United Way of Southwest Minnesota.

United Way Highlighted Initiative:

• Community Impact Review Process: Impact of the annual campaign and assurance that each donation is used as wisely as possible, where it does the most good and that it makes a difference for the people living in our service area. Volunteers involved in the process represent the donors who have made a contribution to the United Way of Southwest Minnesota and do due diligence to invest the dollars back into our communities wisely.
