Ginger tea good for thee

To the editor:

To commemorate the Chinese New Year I am offering one of my favorite tea recipes. It is a ginger tea recipe that I have shared with several friends and would like to share with the community of Marshall. Although I don’t pretend to be a doctor, I have found this tea to be helpful for colds, flu, upset stomach and even voice loss (laryngitis).

Here is how to make it:

2 1/2 to 3 quarts of water

1 pound of fresh ginger

2 cups of brown sugar

Simply wash and thinly slice the ginger. Bring ginger and water to boil in a large pot. Once it is boiling, turn to low and stir in brown sugar. Cover and let it simmer on stove for half an hour, then remove from burner and let it cool. After it cools, strain off liquid and refrigerate.

You now have your own “medicinal” tea. Drink a warm or hot cup before bed. Again I am not a doctor, but I have seen the benefits of ginger tea. If you would like to try the recipe I have shared, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
