David Gannott

MARSHALL — Services for David Lee Gannott, 77, of Marshall will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today, and noon-1 p.m. Friday at the remembrance center. Interment will take place at the Bethany Cemetery near Lake Shetek. Military Honors by U.S. American Legion Post 113 of Marshall. A livestream and recording of the service will be available at www.horvathfuneralservice.com.

David passed away Dec. 24, 2022, at home a year after being diagnosed with cancer.

David Lee Gannott was born Nov. 20, 1945 in Tracy. The 5th of 8 children born to George Edward and Amy Mae (Towne) Gannott. He was raised in Balaton and graduated from Balaton High School in 1963. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1963 to 1966, including one year in Vietnam on the Destroyer Escort USS McMorris. On July 31, 1971 David was united in marriage to Marilyn Rose Janssen. Together they have two children, James Lee and Melissa Ann. He spent 30 years working for Tri-State Petroleum, retiring in 2007. In retirement he spent most days in his shop restoring old cars and Cushman scooters.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Marshall, son James (Jodi) Gannott of Marshall their children Jaden and Tessa. Daughter Melissa (Rick) Sheehan of Clover, SC, their children Ashlyn and Jameson. His recently found oldest daughter, Missy Kay (Steve) Lawler of Buffalo and their family. He is also survived by sister Verna (Wayne) Wee of Hadley, brother Ken of Plymouth and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Amy. Brothers Bob, Ed and Ricky, sisters Mary Hetland and Kathy Saccucci.
