Delmore Fenske

MARSHALL–Visitation will be on Saturday, January 16th, 2021 from 3-6 PM at the J.H. Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required in the funeral home. A private family service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Omro Township with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Fund.

Delmore Marcus Fenske was born April 25, 1932, to Ernest and Cecelia (Timm) Fenske at the home farm in Omro Township. He graduated eighth grade from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School and then graduated high school from Dawson High School in 1950.

At the state fair in 1950, Delmore met his life partner, Bethal Maursetter and they married on September 12, 1953. They started a dairy and grain farm and milked cows for over fifty years. To this union, five children were born: Marcus, Lois, Glenda, Barbara, and Jolayne.

Delmore was very active in his church by serving on the school board and as secretary of the Council for many years. He also served on the Omro Township Board for 36 years. He and Bethal loved to square dance with the groups in Hazel Run and Ghent. In his younger years, Delmore was a 4-H leader and continued to support 4-H and the small animal show in Yellow Medicine County throughout his life. He was an avid supporter of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their activities and liked to attend as many events as possible.

Delmore died on January 14, 2021, at the Prairie Home Hospice (Lockwood House) at the age of 88 years. He now lives with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bethal; his children, Marcus (Janet) Fenske, Boyd; Lois Fenske, Boyd; Glenda (Dale) Knuth, Hartford, SD; Barbara (Ken) Berg, Gary, SD; and Jolayne (Mark) Streich, Boyd; his sister, Mary Lou (Duaine) Kurtzbein, Montevideo; his brother, James (Janet) Fenske, Jackson, WI; brother-inlaw, Veryl Jessen, Boyd; grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Jorgens, Renae (Travis) Gebhart, Brian Jorgens, Pastor Travis (Glorianne) Berg, Luke (Erin) Berg, Jarett (fiancée, Natasha) Berg, Stacia (Anthony) Even, Sarah (Jamison) Bartz, Dr. Melinda Knuth, Dr. Aaron Madson, Dean Knuth, Katheryn Madson, Alisa Fenske, Darius Fenske, and 19 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Celia; great-granddaughter, Mary Ellen Berg; his in-laws, Gifford and Ellnora Maursetter; sister, Bernetta Jessen; Godchild and niece, Kay Jessen; in-laws, Alton and Earlene Rolighed, and niece, Carmen Rolighed. Blessed be his memory!
