James Saunders

CLERMONT, FL — Services for James R. Saunders, 82, of Clermont, FL, formerly of Bushnell, IL, were held Aug. 29, 2020.

He passed away Monday, May 25, 2020.

He was born April 21, 1938, to Emmett and Naida (Pugh) Saunders in Luverne. He loved God and was ready to go “home” after his long battle with leukemia. He attended Central High School in Marshall. Jim was in the Navy from 1956 to 1960, serving on the USS Des Moines in the Mediterranean Sea. After the military service, his primary work was in Class 8 Diesel Parts Sales at Kenworth in Illinois and Missouri. He loved playing golf, watching Nascar Cup and the Vikings. His dream came true to live the past five years on the 12th tee of the Executive Course in Kings Ridge in Clermont, FL.

Survivors include his wife, Lucinda “Cindy” of Clermont, FL; children, Michelle (Mike) Darin of Huntersville, N.C., Shannon Grunewald of Millan, IL, Shawn Dean of Davenport, IA, Robert (Traci) of Magnolia, TX; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Saunders Powell, Jackie (Bob) Meyer, both of Marshall.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joanne Lindlan and Donna Wille Stevens.
