Jan died Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall.

Janet Marie (Woelber) Bahn was born Aug. 9, 1939, in Flandreau, S.D., to William and Ruth (Johnson) Woelber. When Jan was a child, the family moved to Pipestone. She grew up in Pipestone and graduated from Pipestone High School. Although their parents had been friends for years, Jan met her future husband, Marvin Bahn, at the Hollyhock Ballroom in Hatfield. On July 5, 1957, Jan and Marv were united in marriage in Pipestone. The couple moved to Marshall in 1965 with their son, Randy. Jan worked as a grocery clerk for over 30 years, beginning as a high schooler in Pipestone, then for 13 years at Lloyd’s Fairway and 19 years at Hy-Vee, both in Marshall. Jan enjoyed Blackjack, and the couple would travel to Las Vegas a few times a year to play. She was an excellent baker, winning awards for her fresh bread. Jan’s goal was to teach each of her grandchildren to bake bread and pies (and it worked for one of them!). Jan also loved fancy jewelry, and she always looked her best.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin of Marshall; daughter-in-law, Julie of Marshall; grandson, Dallas of Sioux Falls, S.D.; granddaughter, Alissa (Andrew) Peterson of Byron; great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Annika; and brother, Jay (Susan) Woelber.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth; son, Randy, and brother, Jerry Woelber.
