Marian (Farrell) Faundeen

June 12, 1928-May 30, 2020

Marian Faundeen, 91, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and formerly of Blue Earth, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. today at Patton Funeral Home, Blue Earth. Marian was born June 12, 1928, daughter of John and Minnie (Bolsover) Farrell on a farm near Slayton. They later moved to a farm near Balaton in 1937. She attended a rural school through 8th grade, then attended Balaton High School where she graduated in 1946. She became a beautician from the Cosmetology College in Mankato. She worked in multiple beauty shops in Marshall. Marian married her high school sweetheart, Leslie “Red” Faundeen Aug. 25, 1949, at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall. They became the proud parents of John and JoAnn. They moved to Des Moines in 1962 for a few years, then settled in Blue Earth January 1965.

Marian was active in her church through the Catholic Daughters of America and Parish Council. She always sold daffodils for the American Cancer Society as well as serving on jury duty at the county and state levels. Marian also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the Hospital Auxiliary, volunteered to deliver meals on wheels, and the Blue Earth Hospital. Marian was very proud of her children, being Mother was her main job, after being a loving wife. She also enjoyed having coffee with the neighborhood ladies, playing golf and bridge.

She is survived by her son John (Cheryl) of Sioux Falls, S.D., daughter JoAnn (Duane) of Lake Madison, S.D., and three grandchildren, Christopher, David (Kayla), and Daniel, one sister-in-law Leona Farrell, many dear nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Richard, Raymond and Duane, sisters-in-law Donna and Darlene along with her beloved husband Leslie “Red” Faundeen in 2009.
