LeRoy Zimmerman

GRANITE FALLS — Services for LeRoy Westley Zimmerman, 96, of Clarkfield, formerly of Granite Falls, will be at noon Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family.

He died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield.

He was born May 12, 1923, to George and Emma (Haeska) Zimmerman in Sanborn. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in June of 1943. A World War ll veteran, Corporal Technician Zimmerman would see two major battles, the Battle of the Bulge and Battle of Remagen. A soldier of the 86th Infantry, he was awarded the American Theater Service, Good Conduct, European-African Eastern Theater, and Army of Occupation-Germany medals.

Survivors include his daughters, Beth Brouwer, Barbara Sietsema, Laura Zimmer, Linda Olson, Kristi Doose, Tamra Berends and Dee; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and brother, Virgil.
