Esther Peters

MARSHALL — Services for Esther Peters, 95, of Stewartville, formerly of Marshall, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will take place following the service at St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery.

She died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, at the Stewartville Care Center in Stewartville.

Esther (Kindler) Peters was born June 2, 1924, in Lynd, to William and Meta (Becker) Kindler. She grew up in Lynd and graduated from the Lynd High School. On June 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Roland Peters at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Green Valley. Esther was an active member of St. Clotilde Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking and gardening. After Roland’s death in 2015, Esther moved to Stewartville to be closer to family in her aging years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Ellen Hawkinson (and husband Jim Costigan) of Sturgeon Bay, WI; son, Ken Peters of Stillwater; daughter-in-law, Laura Peters of Stewartville; grandchildren, Kimberly Peters, Kristina Peters, Brittney (and Jesse) Nelson, Brianna Peters and Tyler Peters; great-grandchildren, Kyle Peters (and fiancé Terri Reed), Brayden Boyum, Liliana Nelson, and one great-great-grandson on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland; brother, Hardin Kindler; and son, Gene Peters in April of 2019.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
