Marlian Petersen

LAKE BENTON — Services for Marlian “Pete” J. Petersen, 85, of Lake Benton will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lighthouse Assembly of God near Lake Benton. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John’s Immanuel Cemetery near Verdi. A memorial visitation will be at 4-7 p.m. at the church Monday.

He died Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial visitation.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1933 to Olaf and Mildred (Koster) Petersen on the farm near Lake Benton.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; three daughters, Randi Thorp of Wilmington, North Carolina, Julie Lamb of Westbrook and Angie Carpenter of New Ulm; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Virgil Petersen of Woodbury, Connie Mincher of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Karen Nielsen of Lake Benton, Marie Nadeau of Greenwich, New York and Harla Petersen of Clarksville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Mark Petersen and Rita Carter.
