Eldon Nelson

SLAYTON – Services for Eldon Nelson, 86, of Slayton will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Burial is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton. Military honors accorded by the Slayton American Legion Post and the Slayton VFW Post.

He died Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was born Jan. 14, 1933, on the family farm near Hadley, to Albert and Elizabeth Kuehl Nelson. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on Nov, 25, 1952, and received his honorable discharge as Staff Sergeant on Nov. 24, 1956.

Survivors include his wife, Elvera of Slayton; four children, Kevin of Hadley, Kim of Hadley, Kathy Olsem of Dundee, and Ken of Hadley; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
