Annie Nuy Mathiowetz

April 14, 1919-March 11, 2019

MINNEOTA — Mass of Christian Burial for Annie Nuy Mathiowetz, 99, of Minneota, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.

Annie died Monday, March 11, 2019, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.

Annie Marie Van Damme was born April 14, 1919, in Minneota to August and Augusta (Crombeke) Van Damme. She attended school in Minneota through eighth grade then graduated from Granite Falls High School. Annie was united in marriage to Henry Nuy in 1939, and the couple lived in Marshall and Benson. Later, they farmed near Minneota and Annie worked for Swift Company. Henry died in 1981. Annie continued living in Marshall and later married Clarence Mathiowetz in 1987. The couple lived in Sleepy Eye until Clarence’s death in 2004, when Annie returned to Marshall. For the last several years, she has been living and receiving care at the Minneota Manor. Annie was a hard worker and also liked to have fun. She had an excellent sense of humor and enjoyed dancing and trips to the casino.

She is survived by her children Phillip (and Donna) Nuy of Minneota, Kathy (and Don) Collins of Spicer, Mary Lou (and John) Wiltse of Riverdale, N.D., Michael (and Shannon) Nuy of Eagle Lake, Thomas (and Val) Nuy of Marshall; daughter-in-law Sandy Nuy of Algona, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son John, grandson Dean Collins, siblings Elsie Kopitski, Albert Van Damme and Mary Fier.
