She died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Kimberly Jill Krieger was born Aug. 14, 1956, in Benson. She was one of eight children born to Roland and Dorothy (Schobert) Krieger. Kim was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth in Benson. She attended school in Kerkhoven, graduating high school there with the class of 1974. Kim continued her education at Southwest State University in Marshall, graduating there in 1978 with a degree in education. While at SSU, she met Greg Shaikoski.

On July 23, 1977, Kim and Greg were united in marriage at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall. The couple made their home in Marshall and had two children: Sarah and Tony. Kim was a passionate and gifted teacher. She worked for about 30 years, mostly at West Side Elementary. Years later it wasn’t unusual to have older kids and adults approach her and thank her for teaching them. She also enjoyed teaching adult basic education, summer classes, and tutored on the side.

Kim endured many surgeries and setbacks over her 37-year struggle with rheumatoid arthritis. She faced over 40 major surgeries but her strong will and perseverance allowed her to continue her to teach and interact with others. She was very friendly, could carry on a conversation with anyone as if they were long-time friends. Kim enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She loved animals, collected many crafting ideas and materials, and she was very involved with her children, grandchildren, and their activities.

Blessed be her memory.

Kim is survived by children, Sarah (and Stephen) Brown of Rochester, Tony (and Emilee) Shaikoski of Mankato; three grandchildren, Gavin Shaikoski, Mabel Brown, and Addison Shaikoski; former husband, Greg Shaikoski; siblings, Cindy Graham of St. Louis Park, Scott (Vivian) Krieger of Galt, Calif., Kurt (Tiffanie) Krieger of Pennock, Eric (Laurie) Krieger of Bloomington, Grant (Cindy) Krieger of Kerkhoven, Todd (Debra) Krieger of Audubon; brother-in-law, Jim Bauman of St. Anthony; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
