Alan Cohrs

WESTBROOK — Services for Alan Donald Cohrs, 98, of Westbrook will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church, with the family present. Burial is in the Westbrook Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He died Monday, May 28, 2018, at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.

He was born March 30, 1920, in Dovray, to Albert C. and Christine (Schneider) Cohrs. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on Oct. 22, 1941. He had just finishing basic training when WWII started. He completed his training and was stationed in England, North Africa, and Italy as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief on a P-38 fighter. In North Africa on Jan. 5, 1943, he was wounded in combat and later returned to duty. He was discharged as Staff Sergeant on June 22, 1945.

Survivors included his wife, Norma; son, James of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
