Elsie Hasert

MINNEOTA — Services for Elsie Hasert, 94, of Minneota, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at the Lynd City Cemetery.

Elsie died on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at the Minneota Manor.

Elsie (Hellvig) Hasert was born Oct. 25, 1923, to Frank and Annie (Kindler) Hellvig on the family farm in rural Lincoln County. She attended Public Hill Country School. In 1945, she was united in marriage to Orvin Hasert. Elsie worked in the food production industry for many years, both at Kerr’s Hatchery and Swifts Turkey Plant, until retiring at the age of 65. She enjoyed fishing, going to casinos, and doing puzzle books. She will be remembered by family and friends as the greatest baker around.

She is survived by her children, Earl (and Laurel) Hasert of Minneota, Dale Hasert of Minneota, Donald (and Pauline) Hasert of Minneota, John Hasert of Balaton, Linda Wenker of Minneota, and Joan Humphrey of Minneota; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; siblings Agnes Boe of Lynd and Irene Petersen of Russell; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orvin Hasert; son-in-law Duane Wenker; special friend of Dale Hasert, Ellen Esping; great-granddaughter Nicole King; and siblings Mary Rasmussen, Leo Hellvig, Jake Hellvig, George Hellvig, Andrew Hellvig, Elizabeth Sullivan, Annabelle Gregg, and Mae Guza.
