Donna passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, surrounded by her family at Our House Hospice Home in Slayton.
Donna was born Dec. 20, 1941, in Marshall. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1959 and Minneapolis Business College in 1961. She was a devoted employee and loyal friend to coworkers at Aid Association for Lutherans in Appleton, Wis.; Redwood Motor Supply in Redwood Falls; South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.; and Pinnacle Publishing in Bemidji.
Her life revolved around her family. She was her children and grandchildren’s biggest fan and supporter. She loved to sing, travel, spend time outdoors and care for animals. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her family. She loved to go on adventures with her girls, cheer for her favorite sports teams and camp with her family every summer at Cass Lake.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Peterson; three children, Kim (and Scott) Olafson, of Lake Shetek; Kelly (and Jeffrey) Sheehan of Chanhassen; and Mark (and Michele) Hogan of Lander, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Amanda (and Michael) Berreau, Katie Olafson, Nick Olafson, Jake Hogan, Alex Hogan and Hunter Sheehan; and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Olinda (Garlich) Poppick, and sister, Darlene (Poppick) Kelley.
She was a great mom, loving wife and devoted grandma who will always be known for her love, big hugs and zest for life. We are grateful for the loving care she received at Sanford Cancer Center and Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., and at Our House Hospice Home in Slayton.
