Three injured in Lyon County crash

COTTONWOOD — A head-on collision on U.S. Highway 59 Tuesday afternoon injured three people, the youngest 16, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 4:35 p.m., near the intersection of Highway 59 and Lyon County Road 24. The State Patrol said a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by a 16-year-old girl was northbound on Highway 59, when it crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 2016 Chevy Cruze driven by Renee Justine Larson, 30, of Montevideo.

The State Patrol didn’t release information on the identity of the 16-year-old driver. However, the State Patrol said the teen was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Both Larson and a passenger in the Camry, Nicole Ann Peterson, 37, of Marshall, were also taken to Avera Marshall with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, North Memorial Ambulance, Cottonwood Fire and Rescue, and Cottonwood Ambulance all responded at the scene of the crash.
