Teen arrested, Waconia High closes early after threats

WACONIA (AP) — A 16-year-old boy was arrested Friday and Waconia High School closed early after two separate threats were posted on social media.

Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud said authorities received a threat complaint Friday morning after a parent alerted high school staff about an inappropriate video posted on social media. Kamerud said that situation was handled before school started, and the student was arrested for terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.

During the investigation, deputies stayed in and around the high school as a precaution.

Authorities then received a report of a second ambiguous threat posted on social media, and students were sent home from school early as a precaution.

Kamerud said detectives are still investigating the origin of the second threat.
