Missing woman found in crashed vehicle

AMIRET — A rural Garvin woman who was reported missing on Friday was found Sunday afternoon in a pickup which had gone into a ditch along Lyon County Road 2 west of Amiret, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said.

Denise Tekrony, 58, was transported to Sanford Tracy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen said law enforcement was “not positive” on how long Tekrony and the vehicle had been in the ditch when she was found. The ditch slope was steep, and it was difficult to see the pickup from the road, he said.

Tekrony was the subject of a missing person investigation that had been ongoing since Friday morning, Wallen said. The Minnesota State Patrol aviation division, cellular phone and social media providers, and financial institutions, assisted with an extensive search of the area, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 1 p.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle in the north ditch on the 2700 block of County Road 2. Deputies found Tekrony in a 2007 Dodge Dakota pickup in the ditch.

“You couldn’t see it from the road,” due to the slope of the ditch and its distance from the roadway, Wallen said. However, a passerby driving a combine was able to see the pickup from higher up, and called it in, he said.

Tekrony was transported to the hospital by the Tracy ambulance for treatment of her injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
