Marshall residents invited to give feedback on Highway 19
MARSHALL — Planners of an upcoming reconstruction project on Minnesota Highway 19 in Marshall know not everyone could make it to public meetings held earlier this month. But they’re still looking to gather as much feedback as possible to shape the project.
That’s why a short online survey was rolled out on Friday, said Mandi Lighthizer-Schmidt, of the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
“It really mirrors the visioning events that we did,” Lighthizer-Schmidt said of the survey. “It asks people to comment about challenges to the project, and key issues that need to be addressed.”
MnDOT’s District 8 and the city of Marshall are looking are inviting area community members to give their input by taking the survey at www.surveymon key.com/r/marshallvision.
“It’ll be live for 10 days,” and be available until midnight on Nov. 5, Lighthizer-Schmidt said. The survey takes less than five minutes to complete.
The survey is part of an overall visioning effort which started last week with two community visioning meetings Oct. 15 at the Marshall-Lyon County Library.
MnDOT is looking at reconstructing Highway 19/College Drive in Marshall in 2025 and wants the community’s ideas and thoughts before the project is developed. The survey results will be compiled together with feedback from the community meetings.
MnDOT also plans to do some social media promotion of the survey. Lighthizer-Schmidt said so far, people seem interested in giving their feedback. After a link to the survey was posted on Facebook, about 30 people took it in the space of 10 minutes, she said.
“People want to be involved,” she said.
