Three arrested in sex sting appear in court

MARSHALL — Three men arrested in connection with an undercover prostitution sting made their first appearances in Lyon County District Court on Wednesday.

Court records said future hearing dates were set for David Kent Onken, 55, of Hadley; George Everett Scott Croucher, 29, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Todd Mykle Roberts, 46, of Marshall.

The three men were arrested in Marshall on Tuesday, as part of an undercover operation conducted by Marshall Police, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the Brown/Lyon/Redwood/Renville Drug and Human Trafficking Task Force, and the East Metro Human Trafficking Task Force. Onken, Croucher and Roberts were each charged with hiring or agreeing to hire a minor for prostitution.

Criminal complaints filed against the men said they each responded to an online advertisement posted by an undercover agent posing as a 15-year-old girl. Each of the three men allegedly offered money for sex acts, and arranged to meet the undercover agent at locations in Marshall, including a public park.

Hearings for Onken, Croucher and Roberts were set for Nov. 6.

Bail for Onken was set at $25,000 without conditions, or $5,000 cash or bond with conditions including that he stay in Minnesota, abstain from alcohol and drugs, and have no unsupervised contact with female minors. Bail for Croucher was set at $25,000 without conditions, or $5,000 cash or bond with conditions including that he make future court appearances and have no unsupervised contact with female minors. Bail for Roberts was set at $25,000 without conditions, or $5,000 cash or bond with conditions including that he stay in Minnesota, and have no unsupervised contact with female minors.
