Photo by Karin Elton Law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to a semi crashing into a tree Monday morning after the driver suffered a medical condition.

MARSHALL — A semi-tractor trailer driven by a 78-year-old male knocked over a tree on County Road 33 and North 7th Street in Marshall around 8 a.m. Monday, the Marshall Police Department said.

Numerous local emergency personnel were summoned to the scene because of spilled fluids.

The Marshall Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Minnesota State Patrol and the Marshall Fire Department responded to the call, according to a news release from the Marshall Police Department.

The driver appeared to have suffered a medical condition prior to the crash, police said. The driver was transported to the Marshall ER and then flown to Sioux Falls, S.D. He is reported to be in stable condition at this time.

The semi-tractor did spill diesel fuel which was cleaned up by the Marshall Fire Department. The leaked fuel does not appear to be of any concern at this time.

The crash is being investigated by the Marshall Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
