11-year-old bicyclist suffers serious injuries, deputy says

LYND — An 11-year-old boy was in serious condition Monday afternoon after a collision with a sports utility vehicle while riding a bicycle, according to a Lyon County Sheriff’s Department official.

Deputy Robert Lund said the juvenile male was heading north on River Street and the vehicle was heading eastbound on Sharratt Street. Lund said the child came down a hill and struck the side of the vehicle at the intersection.

Lund, Lynd First Responders and Marshall Ambulance responded to the scene. Both the driver and the juvenile were taken to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center, he said.
