Ditch payment, tile location on Murray County agenda

SLAYTON — At today’s board meeting of the Murray County commissioners, Auditor-Treasurer Heidi Winter will be presenting the ditch bills totaling $9,168.25 since the previous meeting.

The bulk of the bills are from open ditch spraying on Judicial Ditch (JD) 10, County Ditches (CD) 19, 22, 27, 29 and 20a.

There were two additional bills, one for $350 from Bill’s Backhoe Service, LLC and one for $304 from Riley Land Improvement, LLC.

Ditch Inspector Howard Konkol will be presenting a request of inspection and maintenance repair for CD 11 in Leeds Township to the board. The proposed contractor is Riley Land Improvement LLC.

The Summary of Findings for Ditch Inspection and Maintenance Repair for CD 11 states that on Aug. 15, the county board approved a Conditional Use Permit for Leo Community Solar Garden, LLC to construct and operate a 1 megawatt community solar garden in Leeds Township.

The location of the proposed solar garden already has existing county tile lines that may end up inside of the constructed solar garden facility or close to it.

The county board serves as the drainage authority and has the power under state statute to make orders to construct and maintain drainage systems, and therefore ordered the tiles lines in that area to be videoed to verify the location and condition of the tile lines in the area prior to the construction of the solar garden facility.

“The tile line investigation will not start until crops are off,” Konkol wrote in the summary.

Konkol is also requesting CD 68 to be inspected by Riley Land Improvement, LLC.

A third request of inspection is being filed for CD 29 with Bolton & Menk as the contractor.

For this CD, the request is to re-engineer two drop structures, on that is rusted out to be replaced with reinforced concrete and the other one is completely missing, Konkol wrote.

A summary of findings for a conditional use permit for Auriga Community Solar Garden, LLC to construct and operate a 1 megawatt community solar garden in Slayton Township will also be presented.

The line investigation for this project will not start until crops are off, either.

Other items on the agenda for this morning, include:

• Setting a preliminary 2018 levy and budget hearing date and time.

• Murray County Soil and Water update and funding request.

• City of Wilmont to open discussion on contracting with sheriff’s office.

• Lime Lake Park picnic shelter roof replacement.
