Craziness on Main

Good deals, food, fun and music make up Marshall’s annual Crazy Days

MARSHALL — It’s a summer tradition, and one that brought people out to enjoy a little bit of everything from good food to good deals in Marshall on Thursday. Crazy Days events included sidewalk sales, music and the annual Kiddie Parade.

“It’s just interesting to see what they put out” for sale, said Charles Kauffman, as he browsed the different outdoor displays from Main Street businesses. Kauffman said he liked to try and check out the Crazy Days deals every year. “I especially check maybe Mr. Cool’s,” and the clothing sales, he said.

Some of the shoppers out and about Thursday said they enjoyed the atmosphere of Crazy Days. Emily Petersen said she liked that different shops and food stands were all open along Main Street, as well as music being played outside some of the businesses.

“It’s relaxing,” she said.

Crazy Days was family-friendly, too, with both adults and kids staying to have a look around Main Street, or look for new clothes and shoes. Although she was taking a break to have a snow cone, Kathryn Coudron said her family usually goes to Crazy Days to go shopping.

“I got these new shoes,” Coudron said.

A lot of the Crazy Days fun and atmosphere came with the help of local businesspeople. Besides putting up outdoor displays, Marshall businesses were getting into the spirit of Crazy Days with food stands and refreshments, costumes and music.

“It’s fun. I don’t have too many opportunities to play outside,” said Remi Anderson. Anderson, a guitar teacher at Music Street in Marshall, was playing jazz riffs on an electric guitar as Crazy Days shoppers went by. People don’t often get the opportunity to hear jazz, either, he said, so it was a chance to share the music with others.

Anderson said it was also good that the weather stayed nice Thursday morning.

“The last couple of years, it’s been really hot” during Crazy Days, he said.
