Rabaey named to fall 2018 dean’s list

John Rabaey of Marshall, was one of nearly 500 University of Dallas undergraduate students named to the fall 2018 dean’s list for earning a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. Rabaey’s major is undeclared.

Buntjer named to fall 2018 dean’s list at Palmer College of Chiropractic

Briatta Buntjer of Marshall has been named to the fall 2018 dean’s list at Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Florida campus in Port Orange, Fla.

Minnesota West to offer powerline technology in Granite Falls

Minnesota West Community and Technical College will begin offering powerline technology at the Granite Falls campus in July 2019. Currently the powerline technology program is offered on the Jackson campus, however Minnesota West is now adding the satellite powerline technology option in Granite Falls to expand the program to serve the workforce and region.

Powerline technology is a one-year 38 credit diploma program that prepares students to become apprentices in powerline construction and maintenance. Students learn basic skills and applications in transmission and distribution. People trained in this field, work for power companies installing and maintaining overhead and underground powerlines. They install equipment such as overvoltage and overcurrent protective devices, transformers, capacitors, and regulators. Powerline technicians are employed by investor-owned power companies, consumer owned power companies, municipalities, and by electrical contractors.

DeSchepper receives degree from UW-River Falls

Emily DeSchepper of Marshall was among 380 students to receive degrees from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in December. Bachelor’s degrees were awarded to 339 undergraduates while 41 students received master’s degrees.

DeSchepper received a master of science degree in clinical exercise physiology

Area students make Concordia honor roll

Dr. Eric Eliason, dean of the college and vice president of Academic Affairs, has announced the names of students whose superior academic achievement during the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year placed them on the dean’s honor list at Concordia College, Moorhead.

To qualify for this designation, students must carry a minimum of 12 semester credits and have a grade- point average of at least a 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Local students earns degrees from SCSU

St. Cloud State University graduated more than 700 students during Fall semester 2018.

Commencement ceremonies took place Dec. 21, 2018.

Local graduates include:

Cottonwood: Erik Nordmeyer, bachelor of science, statistics and communication studies: supplementary, magna cum laude. Garvin: Calvin Barker, bachelor of science, mass communications, summa cum laude; Travis Frakes, bachelor of science, biomedical sciences, cum laude. Marshall: Hailey Allen, bachelor of science, finance.
