Marshall steals road win vs. NU

NEW ULM — The Marshall girls basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 64-52 road win over New Ulm Friday night.

The Tigers led by 4 points at halftime but outscored the Eagles 27-19 in the second half.

Bri Simpson led Marshall’s offense with 16 points on 47% shooting.

Simpson’s impact went beyond scoring, however. She dished out a team-high six assists and stole the ball three times on the defensive end.

Abby Panka and Taleigha Bigler also each scored 10 points for the Tigers, while Reese Graven finished just outside of the double-figure mark with 9 points. Graven and Panka led the team in efficiency, each shooting 60% from the field.

Bigler, a freshman guard, led Marshall in rebounds, with nine, and grabbed a pair of steals.

The Tigers outrebounded the Eagles 31-25 on the night.

Following the win, Marshall (11-5) will play again tonight at 7:30 p.m.

RRC 53, Adrian 48

ADRIAN — The Red Rock Central Falcons girls basketball team defeated the Adrian Dragons in comeback fashion 53-48 on Friday evening

The Falcons trailed the Dragons by 3 points at halftime, 23-20.

The Falcons outscored the Dragons 33-25 in the second half.

Emily Decock led the Falcons in scoring with 18 points. Decock also had four steals and four assists. Sandra Rindfleisch had 8 points and a team-high 18 rebounds. Alyssa Cowan also had 8 points and had eight rebounds.

The RRC Falcons (4-13) will play tomorrow evening and host Hills Beaver Creek High School at 5 p.m.

Minneota 67, YME 30

GRANITE FALLS – Ireland Stassen posted another double-double to lead the Minneota girls basketball team to a blowout win over YME, 67-30.

Stassen scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on the night. Kenadi Arndt finished just ahead of Stassen in boards with 13 and Grace Hennen finished just behind her in scoring with 16 points.

The Vikings’ defense was stifling on the night, and not a single Sting player finished in double figures. Ruby Bones led YME in scoring with 8 points on 44% shooting.

The Sting struggled with ball movement on the night and finished with a total of seven assists and 22 turnovers. Only Bones, with three, had multiple.

Following the win, Minneota (12-4) will go on the road to compete against Lakeview Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Yellow Medicine East (6-9) will try to bounce back when they host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Monday at 6 p.m.

RTR 49, Canby 30

TYLER – The Rusell-Tyler-Ruthton girls basketball team secured a 49-30 home win over Canby Friday night.

Paige Nelson was the Lancers’ only scorer in double figures. She scored 10 points on 3-6 shooting, all of which came from behind the arc.

Kortney Leppke led Canby on the boards with 11 rebounds, and her 7 points made her Canby’s second-leading scorer. Braelyn Merritt finished just behind Leppke with 10 rebounds.

No RTR stats were available at time of publication.

Following the win, RTR (12-7) will go on the road to face Yellow Medicine East Monday at 6 p.m.

Canby (6-11) will look to bounce back against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Wabasso 50, NUC 25

WABASSO — The Wabasso Rabbits girls basketball team doubled up against New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds 50-25 on Friday evening.

Kelsey Frank and Avery Carlson each had 16 points in the victory. The two of them outscored the entire Greyhounds team 32-25. Carlson also had a team-high eight assists and seven rebounds on the night. Sara Carlson finished the game with 11 points.

The Wabasso Rabbits will be back in action on Monday when they host Sleepy Eye High School.

TMB 65, Lakeview

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers girls basketball team defeated the Lakeview Lakers going away, 65-41, on Friday evening.

After a close first half that saw the Panthers lead by nine, 33-24. The Panthers took off and outscored the Lakers 32-17 in the second half.

Grace Dolan led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points. Dolan also had a team-high in rebounds with six and four assists in the victory. Emma Edwards had 12 points on 75% shooting and had four rebounds. Jordan Munson had 11 points with six rebounds, three blocks, and a team-high six assists.

Brynn Strensrud had a team-high 11 points for the Lakers. Aleiah Rosenau had 10 points in the loss. Korysa Herrick had 7 points and a team-high six rebounds in the contest.

The TMB Panthers (9-7) will travel to Canby to face off against the Lancers next Tuesday while the Lakeview Lakers will host the Minneota Vikings Monday evening.

Boys basketball

B.O.L.D. 71, Minneota 52

MINNEOTA — The Minneota Vikings boys basketball team was defeated by the B. O. L. D Warriors 71-52 on Friday evening.

Ryan Dalager led the team in scoring with 14 points in the contest. Maxwell Rost had 13 points and Peyton Sheik had 12 points. Dalager had four rebounds and four assists. Rost had a team-high seven assists and Sheik had a team-high eight rebounds.

The Minneota Vikings will be back in action on Monday evening as they host the Southwest Minnesota Christian Eagles at 7:15 p.m.
