SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Manteuffel sets two marks to pace SMSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s and men’s indoor track & field teams had its final competition before the NSIC Championships on Friday competing at the South Dakota State Last Chance Meet at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

Rebecca Manteuffel had another strong meet for the SMSU women’s team earning first place in the weight throw with a school-record toss of 18.41m. She also finished second in the shot put with a school record mark of 13.81m.

Dentisa Dobreva had a strong day as well with a school-record time of 9.51 to place third in the 60 meter hurdles.

Kayla Jansky and Skyler Jacobson finished 2-3 in the 1,000 meters with times of 3:09.31 and 3:10.87 respectively. In the 60 meter dash, Ashlyn Jones ran a personal best 8.04 to finish fourth.

Virginia Pederson recorded a long jump distance mark of 4.92m to earn a fifth place finish.

On the men’s side, Gabe Galamue ran 22.63 to finish second in the 200 meters, while Quadri Busari finished fourth at 22.90.

In the long jump, Adarius Gallon placed third at 6.48m, while Isaiah Nelson finished fourth at 6.35m.

Connor Wigand placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 15.34m.

Southwest Minnesota State will compete next Friday and Saturday at the NSIC Championships in Mankato.
