PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: TMB moves on with three set win over SWC

TRACY — After a first-round bye, No. 3-seeded Tracy-Milroy-Balaton opened the playoffs with a 3-0 (25-23, 29-27, 25-12) sweep over No. 6-seeded Southwest Minnesota Christian in Section 3A South action on Friday night.

Samantha Edwards led the way for TMB with 18 kills.

Cassidy Smith added six kills in the win, while Brooklyn Ludeman recorded a team-high 22 digs.

TMB will face No. 2-seeded Adrian on Tuesday night in Worthington. Opening serve is scheduled for 7:15 p.m., after the conclusion of the game between No. 1-seeded Windom Area and No. 4-seeded Red Rock Central.

WABASSO — Wabasso advanced to the next round of the Section 3A Tournament with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 18-25, 25-13) win over Lakeview.

Maddy Guetter recorded 23 kills in the win. Guetter’s 13th kill of the night moved her into first place in Wabasso program history in career kills.

McKenna Nelson added 10 kills in the win.

Lakeview was led by LeeAnn Stensrud, who recorded a team-high 10 kills.

No. 2-seeded Wabasso will face No. 6-seeded Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Tuesday night in the next round of Section 3A North action. RTR upset No. 3-seeded YME on Friday. Opening serve from Marshall is scheduled for 7:15 p.m., after the conclusion of the game between No. 1-seeded Minneota and No. 5-seeded Canby.

MINNEOTA — Minneota enters the 2018 postseason looking to make a repeat appearance in the Class A Championship. The Vikings got off to a good start on Friday night, as No. 1-seeded Minneota defeated No. 8-seeded Central Minnesota Christian 3-0 (25-7, 25-5, 25-6) in the opening round of Section 3A North play.

It was a balanced effort for the Minneota offense. Lydia Sussner led the Vikings with 15 kills, while Natalee Rolbiecki tallied 11 kills.

Morgan Kockelman facilitated the Vikings offense with 38 set assists.

No. 1-seeded Minneota will face No. 5-seeded Canby on Tuesday night in the next round of Section 3A North action. Canby defeated No. 4-seeded MACCRAY on Friday. Opening serve from Marshall is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Cammie Weber led the Lancers with 18 kills.

Ahlea Wright added 17 kills in the win, while Brooke Nelson recorded 16 digs and one ace.

No. 5-seeded Canby will face No. 1-seeded Minneota on Tuesday night in the next round of Section 3A North action. Minneota defeated No. 8-seeded Central Minnesota Christian on Friday. Opening serve from Marshall is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m.
