PREP TENNIS: Tigers get tripped up by Cardinals, 4-3

MARSHALL – The Marshall tennis team fell to Redwood Valley 4-3 on Thursday.

At No. 1 singles, Marshall’s Gionna Parsa fell to Redwood Valley’s Janessa Whitaker 6-4, 7-6 while Kelsey Boerboom fell to Redwood Valley’s Gabby Houle 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles, Marshall’s Maddy Penske fell to Redwood Valley’s Isabel Hillestead 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 while Eden Knudson fell to Redwood Valley’s Skylar Dehncke 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.

In doubles action, the Marshall duo of Kaitlyn Matzner and Maddie Row defeated Redwood Valley’s Ashlyn Doering and Payden Beran 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot while Leah Matzner and Alexis Moat won at the No. 2 spot for Marshall, defeating Redwood Valley’s Annika Gibbs and Aubrey Bidinger 6-3, 6-0. At the No. 3 spot, Marshall’s Samantha Ariasola and Samantha Nielsen defeated Redwood Valley’s Kia Jacobson and Lexi Day 6-2, 6-3 to round out the scores.

Marshall will host multiple schools on Saturday at 10 a.m.
