FAIRMONT – Members of the MHS Clay Target League participated in the inaugural Big South Conference Trap shoot at the Fairmont Trap Club on Thursday. The first round started with the top five shooters, which they hit 81 clays straight. At the end of the first 50 clays, Marshall was sitting in second place.

“There was some good competition out there, and we had to stay sharp and continue hitting clays in the second round,” said coach Don Atcher. “They have all the ability; they just need to stay relaxed and let their skills take over.”

After turning in the second round scores, it appeared Marshall would place fourth overall, but after some score checking there was an error and Marshall was victorious and took first place.

Final scores were Marshall 473, Fairmont 472, Waseca/New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (NRHEG) 461, and Worthington 456.

Derrick Van Overbeke took top male shooter with a final score of 98/100.
