SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: SMSU’s Manteuffel qualifies for NCAA Outdoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Southwest Minnesota State University freshman Rebecca Manteuffel has qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships set for May 24-26 and will compete in the discus the NCAA announced on Tuesday.

The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will be hosted by Johnson C. Smith University.

Manteuffel is the first female SMSU track & field athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships in program history. SMSU is in its fifth season since reinstating the program in 2014.

Manteuffel, a native of Cologne, and a 2017 graduate of Mayer Lutheran High School, recorded a school record toss of 48.13 meters in the discus, while winning the MIAA vs. NSIC Showdown in Maryville, Missouri, on April 5. Her toss ranks 20th in the nation entering the championships.

Manteuffel will compete on Saturday, May 26, at 3 p.m.
