SMSU GOLF: Mustangs tied for second place after opening round of SMSU Spring Invite

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team shot a 34-over-par 322 and is tied for second place after round one of the six-team SMSU Spring Invite held at Heritage Course at Wigwam Resort.

Lindenwood (Mo.) is the first round leader with a 22-over 310, followed by SMSU and Truman State (Mo.). Nebraska-Kearney is in fourth place with a 38-over 326, Sioux Falls is fifth with a 39-over 327, while Bemidji State is sixth with a 76-over 364.

SMSU’s Ashley Bixby is tied for eighth in the 43-player field with a team-low 7-over 79. Christina Collins carded a solid 8-over 80 for the Mustangs and is tied for 11th place, Lauren Kerr is in 16th place with a 9-over 81, while Hannah Kohls rounded out SMSU’s team score with a 10-over 82 and is tied for 17th. Hallie Will is tied for 27th with a 15-over 87, while Sydney O’Brien, playing as an individual shot a 24-over 96.

Lindenwood has the top three individuals on the leaderboard with Maggie Bryant and Reagan Snavely each shooting rounds of 3-over 75.

Today’s final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. CDT.
