LAMBERTON — Wabasso/Red Rock Central picked up its first two wins of the season on Thursday night, defeating BOLD 48-24 and defeating St. Clair/Mankato Loyola 68-6.

The Bobcats recorded four pins in the win over BOLD.

Jos Hesse had a pin 36 seconds into the 138-poind duel with Jordan Amburg. Damian Osland notched his first pin of the season in the 170-pound bout against Jayden Huebsch. Lance Wagner added a pin in the second period at 182 pounds, defeating Tim Peppel. Derek Werner got the last pin for W/RRC at 195, dropping Hayden Tersteeg 58 secnds into the bout.

It was a dominant win for the Bobcats against St. Clair/Mankato Loyola, as SC/ML’s only points of the dual came via a Wabasso/Red Rock Central forfeit at 132 pounds.

The Bobcats also had four pins against SC/ML. Carter Benz got the first pin, followed by Josh Hesse, Jared Schroepfer and Damian Osland. Hesse recorded his pin just eight seconds into the 138-pound bout against Chase Baker.

Cole Hennen picked up SMSU’s lone bout victory at 184 pounds with an 11-3 major decision.

Southwest Minnesota State returns to the mat on Saturday competing at the Buena Vista Open.
