PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Tigers roll over Worthington

MARSHALL – The Marshall girls hockey team used five goals in the second period to shut out Worthington 8-0 on Friday night.

After the first period went scoreless, Marshall kicked things off with a goal from Rachel VanKeulen before another score from Olivia Peterson made it 2-0 quickly for the Tigers. Marshall then got goals from Amaya Strivens, VanKeulen again and Sydney Mauch in the period to go up 5-0 after the second.

In the third, Marshall got two more goals from Strivens for a hat trick and a goal from Emelia Barker to bring it to the 8-0 final.

Emma Klenken earned the win in net for the Tigers, stopping six shots.

Marshall will face Minnesota River today at 1 p.m.

Grace Woelber led the way for the Chargers with 20 points while Brittany Erickson added 16 and Theresa Merrick had seven. Camryn Bunting led in rebounds with eight while Erickson led in assists with three.

WWG (0-2) will face Fulda on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Morgan Kockelman led the Vikings with 16 points, five rebounds and five steals, while Abby Hennen scored 12 points.

Morgan Hennen added 11 points for Minneota, and Lydia Sussner finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Minneota (2-1) will host Canby on Saturday, Dec. 9.

The Panthers made just 24 percent of their shots in the loss.

Moses Dolan led TMB with nine points, six rebounds and four assists, while Matt Timmerman chipped in with eight points.

TMB (0-1) will face Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s today, with opening tip scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
