NCAA CENTRAL REGIONAL ROUNDUP: Concordia-St. Paul, Missouri Western, UMD advance in Central Region Tournament

MARSHALL – The No. 2 seed and reigning NCAA National Champion Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears kicked off the quarterfinal set of games of the Central Region Tournament with a 3-0 sweep over No. 7 Central Oklahoma Thursday afternoon at the P.E. Gym, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-22.

Mariya Sampson led the way for the Golden Bears with 14 kills while Hope Schiller and Brooklyn Lewis each added nine. Schiller led in digs with 10 while Tori Hanson had nine. Elizabeth Mohr led in set assists with 42.

Taylor Bevis led the way for Central Oklahoma with 15 kills while Haley Deschenes and Alexis Washington each had seven. Dominique Lipari led in digs with 12 while Ericka Scholl had seven. McKenzie Fyfe led in set assists with 35.

Concordia-St. Paul (29-3) advances to the seminfinal round and will face Missouri Western State today at 5 p.m. The Griffons defeated Nebraska-Kearney in four sets. Central Oklahoma ends its season with a 29-6 record.

Stephanie Doak led the way for the Griffons with 14 kills while Shellby Taylor added 13, Ali Tauchen had 11 and Mikayla Sellers-Wiebe and Rachel Losch had 10. Kayla Ruff led in digs with 18 while Tiana Butler had 12 and Audrey Keim had 11. Lauren Murphy led in set assists with 52.

Kendall Schroer led the way for Nebraska-Kearney with 14 kills while Anna Squiers added 12 and Julianne Jackson had 11. Ellie McDonnell led in digs with 20 while Morgan Stute added 15 and MK Wolfe had 11. Lindsey Smith led in set assists with 45.

Missouri Western State (25-10) advances to the semifinal round and will face Concordia-St. Paul at 5 p.m. today. Nebraska-Kearney ends its season with a 33-4 record.

Sarah Kelly led the way for the Bulldogs with 23 kills while Kate Berg, Allison Olley and Abby Thor all had 11. Keena Seiffert led in digs with 19 while Emily Torve had 17 and Makenzie Morgen had 15. Torve led in set assists with 56.

Laura Snyder led the way for the Wolves with 16 kills while Jenna Reiff had 14 and Holly Vancura had 13. Vancura led in digs with 19 while Jaiden Langlie had 18. Ashley Rozell led in set assists with 55.
