SMSU GOLF: SMSU’s Bixby tied for seventh, Mustangs finish tied for 12th after opening round of Midwest Classic

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team is tied for 12th place following round one of the 18-team Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Central Missouri on Monday.

SMSU finished the round, held at the par-71 Mules National Golf Club, with a score of 47-over-par 331.

Augustana, Arkansas Tech and Central Missouri are all tied for the team lead with rounds of 22-over 306. Olivia Sobaski from Central Missouri sits atop the individual leaderboard with a round of 1-over 72.

SMSU’s Ashley Bixby shot a 4-over 75 and is tied for seventh place in the 112-player field.

Lidia Wallerich is tied for 49th following a round of 12-over 83 with teammate Christina Collins shooting a 14-over 85, which is good for 61st place. Lauren Kerr and Hannah Kohls are tied for 80th with scores of 17-over 88.

Hallie Will and Sydney O’Brien both played as individuals with Will shooting a 25-over 96, while O’Brien carded 26-over 97.

Today’s final round begins at 8 a.m.
