PREP CLAY TARGET: Experience leads Tigers Clay Target League team in second week of competition

MARSHALL – The Marshall High School Clay Target League team (MHS CTL) turned to its experienced shooters to lead the way in League Week 2 competition, as Spring All-Stater sophomore Karter DeSmet posted a total of 47 for top honors on the week. Junior Ben Leek’s 45 and sophomore Dawson Reese’s 40 rounded out the Top 3. Top shooters for MHS CTL on the week were:

“Battling some inconsistencies to start the fall season, we’re able to rely on our veteran shooters to step up,” said coach Don Atcher.

MHS CTL sits sixth overall in Conference 9A shooting after the second league week.

MHS CTL is coached by a staff of 13 volunteers, and supported by a number of parents who help instruct, score and supervise 21 youth in the fall and 80 in the spring. The program is funded by generous donations from local conservation and sportsmen’s groups and area businesses including: Lyon County Pheasants Forever, Redwood River Sportsmen’s Club, National Wild Turkey Federation, Minnesota Trappers Association, Quality Deer Management Association, Borch’s Sporting Goods, Marshall Radio, Lockwood Motors, ABRA Auto Body & Glass, Friends of the NRA, Gustafson C&C Course, Don & Gena Atcher.
