THURSDAY PREP ROUNDUP: Bentz breaks school record as Marshall swimming defeats Montevideo/Dawson-Boyd

MARSHALL — A Marshall High School record was broken on Thursday night as the Tigers defeated Montevideo/Dawson-Boyd 131-51.

Nyssa Bentz set a new record in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 53.20 seconds. That broke Kaylin Caron’s time of 53.56 seconds, which was set in 2008.

Bentz also won the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:13.97.

In total, Marshall won 10 events in the dual.

Kaylie Stucke won the 200 freestyle in 2:06.50.

Maddie Larson took first place in the 200 individual medley, finishing with a time of 2:33.82.

Hailey Brandt won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.52. She also took first place in the 100 backstroke (1:07.94).

Mansi Bell took first place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:07.49.

Marshall also won three relay events.

In the 200 freestyle relay, it was Stucke, Brandt, Lydia Hurst and Bentz combining for a time of 1:46.71 in the win.

Those same four swimmers also won the 400 freestyle relay, clocking in at 3:55.85.

Finally, Alli Kopitski, Larson, Paige Milstead and Bell won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:11.23.

VOLLEYBALL

MCC 3, MLA 0

MOUNTAIN LAKE – The Murray County Central volleyball team defeated Mountain Lake Area 3-0 on Thursday.

Elise Rohrer led the way in kills with 12 while Alyssa Groves had seven.

Amanda Muecke and Montana Beckmann led in digs with nine apiece while Danielle Kuball led in set assists with 18 and Tori Wieneke had 15.

MCC will face RTR on Monday.
