PREP TENNIS: Tigers fall to Arrows

MARSHALL – The Marshall tennis team battled Pipestone Area and sweltering temperatures on Tuesday afternoon. Unlike the warm conditions, the Tigers couldn’t get their rackets hot enough to get their first win, falling to the Arrows 7-0.

At No. 1 singles, Pipestone’s Paige Ahrendt defeated Marshall’s Drew Carver 6-0, 6-1 while Pipestone’s Lauren Laphorn defeated Marshall’s Kelsey Boerboom 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. At the No. 3 slot, Pipestone’s Hannah Berg defeated Marshall’s Katie Ewing 6-1, 6-1 while Pipestone’s Tricia Nissen defeated Marshall’s Eden Knudson 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 4 spot.

At No. 1 doubles, the Marshall duo of Ana Schwarz and Rachel VanKeulen fell to Pipestone’s Paige Morgan and Aspen Schelhaas 6-4, 7-6 while Pipestone’s Adrianna Johnson and Carmen Skyberg defeated Marshall’s Kaitlyn Matzner and Maddie Rowe 6-2, 6-3. Marshall’s Jordyn Ianoye-Guerrero and Kaylee Vierstraete-Hoflock fell to Pipestone’s Courtney Kanthak and Maciah Lorang 6-2, 6-1 to round out the scores.

Marshall (0-8) will face Redwood Valley on Thursday.
