BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Marshall VFW Black kicks off postseason with 13-3 win

MARSHALL – The Marshall VFW Black baseball team defeated Redwood County 13-3 in five innings on Saturday to start postseason play.

Isaac Schmitt led the way for Marshall with a 3 for 3 day at the plate while Trey Steinbach went 1 for 4 with three RBIs and Cody Greve went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Kaleb Welvaert earned the win on the hill, going four innings while allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three.

GRANITE FALLS – The Granite Falls amateur baseball team defeated Bird Island 2-1 on Sunday.

Brandon Grund and Austin Vikander led the way for Granite Falls with 1 for 4 outings with an RBI each.

Jordan Thompson earned the win on the hill, going all nine innings while allowing one run on 12 hits while striking out three.
