PREP SOFTBALL: A pair of Tigers earn all-conference honors

MARSHALL – The Big South Conference recently announced the 2017 all-conference teams for softball, with two Marshall Tigers earning honors.

Morgan Radel earned all-conference honors. The junior played third base and was one of two juniors on the team this past season. Radel and Karley Polejewski will be the lone seniors on the roster next season, after the Tigers had no seniors on the roster this past season.

Madison Wegner earned all-conference honorable mention. Just like it was for most of her teammates this season, it was Wegner’s first taste of the varsity level.

“”It feels great earning honorable mention,“ Wegner said. ”It means that all my hard work has paid off. This was my first year on varsity and it was very tough. We we’re a young team, so all we could do was improve.”

Wegner added that she’s focused on becoming a more complete pitcher for her junior year.

“Next year my focus is to get more movement on the ball and to master my pitches that I have in my arsenal right now.”

The Tigers finished the season with an 8-14 record. They went 1-2 in section tournament play and will have the entire team returning next season as they aim to build upon this past year.
