PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Minneota/Canby’s season comes to an end in first round of section tournament

MORRIS — Minneota/Canby’s season came to an end on Tuesday with a 3-2 loss to Montevideo in the opening round of the Section 3A Tournament.

Becca Kallhoff took the loss from the circle, allowing three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.

Larissa Kockelman was 2 for 3 to lead the Vikings at the plate.

Minneota/Canby ended its season with a 12-9 record.

WABASSO – The Wabasso Rabbits won their second game of the section tournament on Tuesday, with a 12-2 victory over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

Emily Benz got the win for the Rabbits. At the plate Benz recorded three hits and recorded five strikeouts. Alison Benz went 3 for 3. Madalyn Heiling picked up two hits, while Alexi Irlbeck had a two-run double.

With the win the Rabbits will play KMS in Cottonwood on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Lakeview 12,

RCW 1 (6 innings)

MURDOCK — Lakeview is still alive after Day 1 of the Section 3A Tournament.

Lakeview began the day with a 12-1 win in six innings over Renville County West.

Sadie Stelter went the distance from the circle, allowing one run on two hits with eight strikeouts.

Brooklin Peltier was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs in the win, while Kiana Imes and Michaela Schuster added two hits apiece in the win.

MURDOCK — Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg topped Lakeview 5-2 in the second round of the Section 3A Tournament.

Stelter again went all six innings from the circle, but allowed five runs (four earned) on ten hits in the loss. She recorded nine strikeouts and just one walk.

Five Lakeview players collected singles, with Kaitlynn Bot recording the lone RBI. Tiana Hay and Kiana Imes both scored runs for the Lakers.

With the loss, the Lakers move to the consolation tournament. Their next game will be against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Saturday morning, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
