PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Lakeview splits pair of games with Eagles

MADISON – The Lakeview Lakers split a pair of games with Lac qui Parle Valley on Thursday. The Lakers edged the Eagles in the first game in 13 innings, 5-4. They then dropped game two, 8-1.

Kaitlynn Bott drove in two runs in game one for the Lakers. Leah Brusven, Kiana Imes and Brooklin Peltier all drove in one run.

Sadie Stelter pitched all 13 innings and recorded 11 strikeouts.

The Lakers are now 5-4. They’ll play Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Tuesday.

TRACY — Tracy-Milroy-Balaton swept Renville County West on Thursday, winning Game 1 13-3 before a 11-0 win in Game 2.

Sydney Lanoue had an impressive offensive outburst in Game 1, going 5-5 with a home run and double, and driving in three runs.Lexi Tauer added two doubles and two RBI in the win.

Tauer went the distance in Game 2, throwing her third consecutive shutout.

Tauer only surrendered three hits and struck out one batter in her five innings of work.

TMB (6-0, 6-0 Camden) travels to Murray County Central today for a nonconference game.

RUTHTON – The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights broke into the win column with a 6-4 victory over Renville County West.

Cooper Hansen hit two doubles and drove in four runs to lead the Knights. Payton Hess picked up the save for the Knights.

RTR (1-2) will be back in action today when they welcome Heron Lake-Okabena to Ruthton.

NEW ULM – The Wabasso Rabbits picked up a 3-0 victory over Minnesota Valley Lutheran to improve to 5-1 this season.

The Rabbits scored one run in the first inning and added two more in the fourth. That’s all the Rabbits would need behind Ty Kemp’s gem on the mound.

Kemp pitched a complete game shutout and recorded 10 strikeouts, while limiting MVL to two hits.

Wabasso will be in Minneota on Saturday to take on the Vikings and Edgerton.

Mitchell Willhite, Skyler Reddemann and Austin Irlbeck combined to throw a two-hitter in the five-inning win.

GRANITE FALLS – The Canby Lancers blanked Yellow Medicine East, 10-0 in six innings on Thursday. The Lancers held the Sting to one hit to pick up the road victory.

Adam Durfee went 3-4, with three doubles and drove in four runs to lead the Lancers. Tyler Kack drove in two runs. Evan Stoks went 2-3 with a double. Justin Merritt went 1-2 with a double and one RBI.

Adam Durfee pitched all five innings, giving up one hit and recording eight strikeouts.

With the win the Lancers improved to 4-1. They’ll be back in action today to take on Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.

The loss drops the Sting to 0-4. They’ll look to pick up their first win of the season on Monday against Minnewaska.

Cody Speh picked up a win in singles play for YME, defeating Ben Larson 6-0, 6-1.

Ammon Bennett got the other YME point, defeating Nick VanDyke 6-0, 6-0.

YME (1-2, 1-2 West Central) will travel to Luverne to face Luverne and Pipestone Area in a triangular on Saturday.

SANBORN — Cedar Mountain picked up a pair of wins on Thursday in a triangular with Wabasso and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop.

The Wabasso boys came in second, nine strokes behind CM.

Garrett Sagedahl led Wabasso with a 45, followed by Isaac Hertling at 47, Jacob Iverson at 50 and Dominick Albu at 53.

The Wabasso girls only had two individuals. Anna Rohland carded a 56, while Gabby Welch added a 61.

Wabasso boys travel to Worthington on Saturday. Both teams play at New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday.

DAWSON – The Dawson-Boyd girls and boys golf teams competed at a Camden North meet Thursday afternoon.

On the girls side, Lac qui Parle Valley took first with a team score of 202 while Dawson-Boyd took second with a score of 242. MACCRAY, YME, CCS and RCW all had incomplete scores.

Rachel Halvorson led the way for LQPV with a 43 while Abby Stender had 48, Izabella Stender had 52, Sarah Halvorson and Carissa Besonen both had 59 and Shannon Busse had 63.

Rachel Lund led the way for Dawson-Boyd with a 55 while Kallie Olson had 61, Alisa Fenske and Ella Mork both had 63 and Elly Stratmoen had 64.

On the boys side, LQPV took first with a team score of 177 while MACCRAY came in second with a 184 and CCS took third with a 188. YME (194) took fourth, followed by RCW (216) and Dawson-Boyd (incomplete).

Harrison Patzer and Henry Roth led the way for LQPV with scores of 42 while Tanner Buffington had 46 and Jaden Kallhoff and Tony Abromowski had 47 each.

For YME, Sam Ohliger and Ben Rillo each had 47 while Jacob Peterson had 48 and Brett Harr had 52, Bryant Bestland shot 55 and Eric Kosak had 57. For Dawson-Boyd, Tyler Lund led the way with a 46 while Levi Loos and Seth Stratmoen both had 47.

WESTBROOK – The Westbrook-Walnut-Grove boys team defeated Murray County Central 191-203. The MCC girls defeated WWG 206-244.

For the boys the Rebels had the top two individual scores. Jack Pierson led the way with a 38. Tyler Groves shot a 39.

Kyle Kuehl led the way for WWG with a 44. Tommy Lindstrom shot a 46.

Abby Hamman and Amber Boock both shot a 45 to lead the way for MCC.

TRACY — Five area teams faced off in a Camden South meet in Tracy on Thursday.

Lakeview won the boys meet with a 173. In second was Minneota at 177 followed by Canby at 180. Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton fielded incomplete teams.

Minneota won the girls meet with a 192, followed by Canby at 209, RTR at 222 and Hendricks at 230.

These same teams will have another conference meet on Thursday in Hendricks.
