PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Lakers baseball snap losing streak

MARSHALL – The Lakeview Lakers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-5 victory over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at Irish Field.

Seth Plotz went 2 for 4 for the Lakers with a bases-clearing triple. Lucas Hodges went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Austin Timm tossed a complete game and recorded five strikeouts.

Jacob Fischer finished the day 3 for 5 at the plate for the Knights. Jared Baartman went 2 for 4. Carter Hansen went 2 for 3.

The loss drops the Knights to 2-4 overall. They’ll look to break back into the win column Thursday against Lac qui Parle Valley.

With the win the Lakers are now 2-5. They’ll play today against Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

GRANITE FALLS – YME gave up 14 hits and 13 runs en route to a 13-0 loss to Minnewaska on Monday.

Nick Lindstrom went 2 for 2 for the Sting. Tom Lindstrom pitched one inning and recorded three strikeouts.

The loss drops YME to 0-5 on the season. They’ve now failed to score a run in back-to-back games.

MINNEOTA – The Minneota/Canby softball team ran into a buzzsaw at home against Montevideo. The visiting Thunder Hawks defeated the Vikings 16-0 in five innings.

Sydney Larson went 2 for 2 at the plate for Minneota/Canby.

With the loss Minneota/Canby currently owns a 7-4 record. They’ll be back in action on Thursday against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
